INCLUSIVE CHEERLEADING SEMINAR IN FINLAND 24th October 2020
First Inclusive Cheerleading seminar was held as an online seminar in 24th of October 2020. There were approximately 24 attendees present, mainly from Finland.
Following topics were covered in the seminar:
- Short introduction of the project (Project Coordinator Heidi Borg, Finnish Cheerleading Federation)
- Inclusive ideas for sport clubs - good practices in sports groups in need of special support (Research Manager, PhD, Aija Saari, Finnish Paralympic Committee)
- Coaches' experiences - how to start and run an inclusive cheerleading team (Coach Sini Mäkinen, Funky Team and Coach Sanna Riski, Golden Spirit)
- Methodology in inclusive cheerleading and how to adapt stunts and choreography (Chair Rick Rodgers, Paracheer International and Board Member Chantal Epp, Paracheer International)

FINNISH PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE
"Open doors" -project aims to support Finnish sport clubs to include people with special needs to their activities. The project is coordinated by the Finnish Paralympic Committee and is carried out in collaboration with 12 Finnish regional sport organisations and 7 Finnish sport federations. Finnish Paralympic Committee and Olympic and Paralympic Training Center, Pajulahti, have developed online education for anyone who is interested in adapted abilities and disability sport. Online education is free of charge. Online education is in Finnish.
